    Hola,
Tengo un periódico espanol que se llama DEIA. Qué significa DEIA?
    Es un nombre inventado?

    Cheers.

Is the newspaper from Bilbao? I believe that deia is a Basque word, meaning something like la llamada (the call).

Edit:Sorry, I forgot to write this in Spanish!

No conozco este periodico, y no me suena ninguna palabra española Deia. Puede ser una palabra catalana que quiere decir: Decía. (No estoy segura de los acentos)

...errr...it might be, mate...abajo del título dice: "Diario del Bizkaia" ...where (or what) is that?...it doesn't sound very Spanish to me, although all the articles seem to be in Spanish.

Bizkaia = Vizcaya - yeah, looks like you've found a Basque word. At least it's a reasonably pronounceable one!

    Hi Masood,

As Dave has pointed out, it is Vizcaya. To your English ears, try Biscay, as in the Bay of Biscay. Certainly sounds Spanish enough to me.

I looked up the word in a Basque/Castellano dictionary, and one listing was
'llamada'. Perhaps you would call the newspaper "Clarín" ?

    saludos,
    C
