demand/offer to settle

Hi everyone
I am translating a chapter of a book on law and economics, and I'm struggling to find an Italian equivalent for the expressions "offer to settle" and "demand to settle". It's basically related to what the plaintiff and the defendant expect from a trial.

The defendant rejects the plaintiff's DEMAND TO SETTLE if it exceeds the expected value of his legal liability, whereas the plaintiff rejects the defendant's OFFER TO SETTLE if it's lower that the expected value of the legal claim.

How would I say that in Italian? Something like "richiesta/ offerta di risoluzione"? I suspect there's a more specific term...
