dependable car

Senior Member
Hello, my friends,

The context is about how to live a simple life.

This is the sentence:

"While we admitted that, yes, it is fun to eat in restaurants occasionally, and to wear decent clothes and to drive a dependable car, we also understand that those things should be earned privileges, not rights."

What does the "dependable car" mean?

Thank you.

It means a car that you can rely upon.

It means a car that is ready-and-able when you need it.

It means a car that will get you from A to B, most of the time. :)
