The company has developed two new initiatives in the last six weeks.

Hi,

What could "developed two new initiatives" in the above refer to? It's really over my head. Could you give me a concrete example of any two new initiatives? Thanks.

    Thanks, envie.

I did look it up in Wordreference. Dic. before I posted my question.
What troubles me is that the explanation is very abstract.
Could you give me a tangible example of "initiatives" in question?

If a steel company decided that they were going to start making car parts from the steel that they produce, then this would be a "new initiative" for this steel company.

If a town government decided that they were going to buy vacant land in the downtown area and build new offices to rent out, this would be a "new initiative" for the town government.
