Hi everyone,

I'm a proofreader (usually of Italian books, but this time I have an English one to read).

There is this sentence:
"The animal must also be guaranteed an adequate supply of nutrients".
(In Italian: all'animale dev'essere inoltre garantito un adeguato apporto di nutrienti).

I don't know if the construction is correct. I would correct in this ways, but I'm not sure at all:
"The animal must also be guaranteed with an adequate supply of nutrients"
"To the animal must also be guaranteed an adequate supply of nutrients"
"An adequate supply of nutrients must also be guaranteed to the animal"

Thank you
Stefania

    Ciao, Stefania
"An adequate supply of nutrients must also be guaranteed to the animal" :tick:
Questa secondo me è la più corretta fra quelle con "an adequate supply of nutrients" come soggetto.

Se il soggetto invece diviene the animal, suggerirei:
The animal must also be provided with an adequate supply of nutrients.

    Attendi altri pareri.

I agree with Mary. Guarantee doesn't work here. Another suggestion could be
The animal must be ensured an adequate supply of nutrients.
