did solid to ho-hum business

Hi everybody,

I happen to face 2 problems of translation in the above-mentioned expression. Here is the context (comparing box office revenues at two different dates):
"the general box office was less lively as a flurry of new wide releases did solid to ho-hum business""
Here is my try:
(but it seems I have sort of 'skipped' the meaning of 'did solid' which I fail to understand here)
Thanks for your help.

    Hi jolem,

Solid to ho-hum is a continuum where solid is great business and ho-hum is business that is not very substantial. Even though business was less lively, there is the fact that some of the releases made good sales - the 'solid' ones - and you did skip it yes! Essaie in very bad French: ...face à la sortie d'une vague de films grand public qui se trouvait dans la gamme bien bons/ pas génial. Can you understand the meaning now? anyway, hope it helps, bajo

ok!... Thanks, Bajo, for the very useful tip : I had not perceived at all the possibility of a continuum in the phrase... So here is my new (and hopefully better) try:
