Did you have time ...? [polite reminder?]

Hi all, I requested a letter of attestation from a faculty member whom I haven't met personally. Since he hasn't reacted to my first email, I want to remind him of my request, but don't know how to do it in a polite yet casual way. How about "Dear xxx, did you have the chance to work on my request? I look forward to hearing from you..."
How does that sound? Thanks for you help!

Too blunt, I'm afraid. Put yourself in his or her position and think what might have happened -- didn't receive, no time, doesn't want to do it -- and write a short note that you would like to receive, and that might make you think kindly of the writer and sit down and write the letter even though it's a chore.

    Welcome to the forum. :)
