Difference between a sovereign and a president?

    Presidents are elected. In a republic.
    'Sovereign' is a catch-all term for kings, emperors, etc. - it is a hereditary title, as far as I know. In a monarchy.

    Gemselections, the word 'president' does not mean 'president of India'. The president of a coin-collectors club may be elected for one year or 10 years. He might even have a collection of sovereigns.
