Difference between bill and settlement

Dear all,

I would like to know the difference between bill and settlement ?

You can say electricity bill but not at all electricity settlement. Is that right ?

    The utility issues a bill for its services. When you pay the bill, you "settle the bill," although we would rarely say it that way when talking about electricity.

    Usually "a settlement" is an agreement that "settles" a dispute. Two companies (or two people) disagree. There may be lawyers and lawsuits involved. Finally they reach an agreement: A will pay B $5,000, then the dispute is over. That $5,000 is a "settlement".
