differentiate: between or not?

Hello to everybody,

I'm never sure about whether to use "between" or not after "differentiate". For example, in the following sentence, should I use it??

But accredited home care providers do not only carefully differentiate between these two types of users

Thank you very much in advance for your help! J

If you use between, the emphasis is on distinguishing between these two types of users.
If you omit between, it suggests that you are differentiating these two types of users from all other types of users.

I suspect you mean differentiate between in this example.
