Dip the pieces into a sauce..?

New Member
I'm talking about a dish, and there're many pieces of meat in it.
Do we say "dip the pieces into a sauce" or "have the pieces with a sauce" or "have it with a sauce"?

It would depend on how the dish is served. If the meat is served in a separate container to the sauce one may well take a piece of meat and dip it into the sauce, or one may "pour the sauce over the meat". Are you talking about how to make the dish or how to eat it?
