What is the meaning of "dive for cover" in this sentence. I give some part of the context so that you help me.
...People were not used to seeing moving images and this created some funny reactions. For example: "the audience used to dive for cover when they saw a train arriving on the screen!"

    literalmente: zambullirse para cubrirse (en el tiempo de verbo que se necesite).
    En realidad es 'ponerse a resguardo'.
