do not litter or do not throw trash

Hi,

If in a street, after I eat something, I drop the package on the ground, others may say "Don't litter".

Is it natural to say "Don't throw (away) trash /garbage here"?

Thanks.

It may be different in the UK, but in the US we would use "don't litter." In a more general sense you can say something like "don't throw garbage / trash in the street / on the ground etc."

In the UK we also use "litter" like that. But in the more general sense, we say "rubbish" not "garbage" or "trash", which would be regarded as American usage.
