Does Zoromazdas correspond to Zalmoxis?

Older books equate Zoromazdas, one of the variations of Zoroaster I believe "Zoro + Mazda," to a figure mentioned in Herodotus Histories as Zalmoxis. Is it possible that Zalmoxis corresponds to Zoromazdas? Can -zd- shift to "x"?

According to "Mithras ideology and iconography" the end morpheme -moxis is indeed akin to Av. mazda. Does anyone know whether Zal could be a corruption of Zoro- or Zarathushtra?
