Hi, when someone says, Don't get me started. Does he literally mean I don't want to talk about it. or is it just an expression? Should I stop the subject right there? Thank you.

It just indicates that the person has very negative feelings towards the subject in hand. It's like a jovial warning: "Don't get me started on that subject, otherwise I'll be talking about it for hours!". It's perfectly acceptable to carry on discussing the subject or ask "Why?", often it signifies something someone really wants to complain about :).
