what is the meaning of "dot-come gold rush" in this context?
green revolution is not just the latest dot-com gold rush or marketing fad,
either.

It refers to the period between 1995 and 2000 during which almost all internet and related companies(.com) saw their stock price rise quickly and many investors could easily make huge profits from trading these stocks.

It's true Aha. It should be mentioned, though, that at the end of that period, their stock value collapsed and many of those interned-based companies went bankrupt when they could not respond to the return-on-investment expectations.

The author of the sentence in post 1 suggests that this is not going to happen to the "green revolution".
