Could anyone explain to me the meaning of that expression ? Here's the context :

"please discuss performance objectives, milestones and target dates with the dotted-line supervisor. The immediate supervisor should provide a copy of the draft review form to the dotted-line supervisor for review."

This refers to the organizational chart. The dotted-line supervisor is the supervisor linked to you in the organizational chart by a dotted line. This is usually not your main supervisor, since this one is linked to you by a solid line.
