Hi all.

China's Shanghai Composite index gained 1.8 percent Thursday afternoon, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down slightly after Wen's remarks.
This adjective "slightly" describes which of them? :

1- down slightly
2- slightly after

It's ambiguous, but I'd say the first option as it seems to make more sense. We'd probably say 'shortly after' if we meant the second thing.
