Hi,

Does "draw essence from" mean "to stem/emanate/result from"?

For ex: "His attitude drew essence from his childhood experience." (My sentence.)

    Here's one sentence I came across:

    "...emergent nationalisms of ethnic groups within the Empire drew essence from their religious-communal experience in the millet system." (B. Batuman, New Islamist Architecture and Urbanism).
