Bonjour,

Culinary question: how to translate "dressed salad"

context (menu): dressed salad and aged balsamic

My attempt:

Salade composee et sa vinaigrette au balsamic vieilli

or is it rather:

Salade a la vinaigrette de balsamic vieilli

Thanks,

The second, I think. The phrase sounds strange to me, because dressed salad means it has dressing (sauce, vinaigrette) on it, and mentioning the balsamic after that sounds odd.

Indeed I checked with native speakers and I opted for: salade assaisonnee au vinaigre de balsamic vieilli... (desolee pour les accents...)

btw, vinaigrette implies that there are other ingredients such as oil, salt, pepper and possibly mustard and other herbs, so I prefer "assaisonnement", more generic.

    Merci!
