Hi, there

Should I use "it" in the following sentence?

"My father always drilled it into my head that I should help others"
or
"My father always drilled into my head that I should help others"?

Thank you for all

It's fine either way, although my sense it that it would be more commonly said with "it".
Can I use "it" that way only with certain verbs, Glenfarclas? Because , if I replaced drill into with "instill", for example, I couldn't put "it between "instill" and "in".
