    Hello!

I'm translating a law paper and the following sentence is not clear: "early notice of an oil spill may facilitate its containment"

On one hand I think it could be a simple metaphor which I should translate word by word, on the other hand it could be an idiomatic expression to say:"accorgersi in tempo di una perdita di petrolio può salvare il contenuto".

What do you think about it? Thank you.

Sorry, but the fact is that the context is extremely limited: "self-reporting may allow harm to be mitigated (early notice of an oil spill may facilitate its containment)"

    Cosa significa "aggiungere il contesto"?

Dare tempestivamente l'allerta di una perdita di petrolio potrebbe agevolarne il contenimento.

Cioè, la blocchi, la riduci. ;)

It's 100% literal. It's just an example of the benefits of self-reporting (whatever that is).
