Embellish = exaggerate ?

Jay Bro

Russian (Русский)
Hello, guys.

Dictionary gives the meaning of "to decorate with ornamentation"

can I use this word in meaning of "exaggerating"

E.g. to embelish the hero and his achievements?

Thanks in advance!

(I have corrected the spelling of "embellish" in the thread title. -- JustKate, English Only moderator)

    A story can be 'embellished' meaning exaggerated or even a euphemism for a few added untruths.

    "That story sounds so unlikely I suspect it's been well-embellished. Take it with a pinch of salt".
