Hi,

I'm writing about an accident at a subway construction site:

According to media reports, in June 2016 four workers died and ten others were injured, some of them critically, when a subway construction site in Namyangju, South Korea, collapsed. The workers were employed by a subcontractor to construct subway rails for XYZ, a subsidiary of XYZZ.

Would it be better to write:

The workers, employed by a subcontractor, were constructing subway rails for XYZ, a subsidiary of XYZZ

.. or is it OK to put the phrase 'by a subcontractor' between 'employed' and 'to construct'?
