What do you think engagement means in the following sentence? Can you please paraphrase it?
There is no more context, it is a powerpoint presentation and the next slide is another unrelated sentence.

"The Patient, just like any other consumer today,
expects engagement in – and relationship with – the (pharmaceutical) business."

    The sentence provided is awkward. Replacing "engagement in" with "to be engaged" would be a place to start. The "and relationship with" between the hyphens is better off left out altogether. There is a creepy romantic undertone to "relationship with" as well...

    Well, I cannot leave out certain parts altogether. I have to translate everything the best I can.
