Hello,
I'm a bit confused about the translation of "erbette" in English.
My dictionary gives "herbs", but I'm sure it's wrong because this is a typical dish from Piacenza "tortelli con la coda" of pasta stuffed with ricotta and "erbetta" (sometimes they use spinach instead, so we are not talking about herbs).
My instinct is to say "greens", but it's a big vague!! And old-fashioned (eat your greens!!!).

Is "beet leaves" the same thing?

Any suggestions?

    La bieta o bietola è una varietà di barbabietola da orto.
    Nelle bietole da coste (chiamate anche coste) si consumano sia le foglie che le coste fogliari (la parte iniziale delle foglie, bianca e più spessa), nelle altre (dette anche bieta erbetta) le foglie hanno la prevalenza e vengono consumate come gli spinaci.
    Come tutte le verdure a foglia di colore verde scuro, la bietola contiene grandi quantità di vitamina A (fino al 40% della razione giornaliera raccomandata).
    La bieta erbetta si può lessare o cuocere al vapore come gli spinaci. Per cuocere le coste, invece, bisogna dividere le coste fogliari dalle foglie e cuocerle separatamente, poiché i tempi di cottura sono molto diversi
