What was the parents' original motivation to give their son the name of Leopold? If the name is made of 'liut' meaning people and 'bald' meaning brave, does it mean that the parents' intention, at birth, was to glorify their nation or community or rather their thinking was magical and they wished their child to become a brave and bald man in the future, when he grows up.

Thank you.

  • Of course, the question should read: What might have been the parents' original motivation.

Thank you for any ideas and comments.
