Is prefix -پژ/paẑ- a variation of پس/pas "after, next, back", otherwise what does it mean? Thank you.

Yes, paž is a non-Persian (North-Western or Eastern Iranian) counterpart of Persian pas, Parthian paš, Avestan pasča, “after, behind”. paž-wāk is patently an “after-voice”, with a cognate of Persian āwāz, again with non-Persian retention of the -k.

    Thank you fdb.

پژمان, which happens to be a male name (at least in recent times) appears to also have this prefix but I can not find any information that confirms that is the case, is there any information on this word please? Based on the post#2, this word could mean left/stayed-behind which is not complementary as a name.

پژ has also survived in پژمرده "withered"
