Mitchell knew all the psychological interrogation techniques used by the people who didn’t believe in enhanced interrogation, and he thought they would work just fine on what he called “common terrorists that you catch on the battlefield, like the everyday jihadists that were fighting Americans.”

Does anyone know who are everyday jihadists? I see, the point is not purely linguistic, yet still

    He's talking about those who aren't high-level leaders. They're normal men recruited from villages, for instance. He puts those in a different category than those that work at a high level and are responsible for creating the strategy and tactics and plans for the whole organization.
