hello,

I am just writing a study (the topic is network) and I have problems when I try to express the possessive form:
to say: the backbone of the network; shall I write
-the network's backbone
-the networks backbone
-the network backbone ?
In order to avoid using always "of", I would like to know. For information the firm is an english one.
Thank you a lot for your attention!

The third turns the noun "network" into an adjective, which is why it's OK. I think you'd hear "the backbone of the network" more frequently than "the network's backbone." The former just sounds better, to my ear. But others might well disagree. :)
