Hi.I want to learn if I can use the verb "extinct" referring "a clock".I know that I can use it with dinosaur etc. There is also a question about it.

Questions:

A)Is that the sound of our old grandfather clock ticking ?
B)Have you ever seen a dinosaur?

Answer:
That's impossible. It's been extinct for the last three decades.

Which question is suitable to this answer,in other words can I use "clock" with "extinct"?
Thanks for replies.

for the question about the dinosaur, you could use "extinct" so your answer could be "that's impossible - dinosaurs are extinct"

for the question about the clock, you cannot use "extinct" (sound_shift and e2efour already explained why) so I would reply "that's impossible - the clock hasn't worked for three decades"/"that's impossible - the clock's been broken for three decades"
