extraneous/discursive (word choice for essay)

Hi, I've recently learnt two interesting words which apparently have something in common, extraneous and discursive. If I want to describe a speech, are extraneous and discursive suitable? Do they sound natural in the sentence "generally, the speech is quite (extraneous/discursive)"?
Thank you so much!

Yes, they could be used to describe a speech, but they aren't the same. It depends on how you understand their meaning.
I'm less sure about using 'extraneous' for a whole speech.
