The number of school dropouts is extremely high.
Can I use the word exorbitant instead of extremely high in the above sentence?
    Thanks.

I would say no. Normally I hear exorbitant used in terms of money or goods, meaning "unreasonably high": exorbitant fees, exorbitant quantities of goods consumed, etc.

Can you please suggest me any synonym for extremely high which can be used in the above sentence?

Astronomical might work if the numbers are truly extreme.

    "Staggering" would be another choice.
