Hi,
I read the following line lately from a newspaper :
X fait preuve de fair-play en ...
The word fair-play looks so English to me.
Is there a more French way to say that?

    Yes but that's a very common word in french...I would definitely use this one.
    If you still want some more "frenchy" sound you can say :
    être fair-play = être beau joueur = être loyal = avoir l'esprit sportif
