Bonjour, j'ai un blanc, comment dit-on déjà « faire descendre » un aliment, un repas, en anglais ? Par exemple en parlant d'un bon vin, « Je nous ai acheté cette bouteille pour faire descendre le tout. » Il me semble qu'il existe une expression semblable.

    That is indeed an expression in this kind of situation, but if you bought a very nice wine (or someone gave some to you) to wash it down with a nice 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin is a bit degrading as to the quality of the beverage!

    To me, you wash down something with a beer or a coke, usually all finished in haste.

    For a quality drink (unless you were in a joking mood), I would say I bought this wine to accompany (or go with) the meal.
