Bonjour !

I always thought the French said "faire une brillante carrière" (to have a brilliant career), but today I heard someone say "Il est peut-être jeune, mais il a fait une carrière brillante". I think she meant "He might be young, but he had a brilliant career."

Does "faire une carrière brillante" mean "to have a brilliant career" too?

Merci !

I agree with Garoubet : the aim is to create a parallel between "jeune" and "brillante" and to insist on the fact that though he is young his career has been brilliant. But both structures are correct.
