    What does fairy hollow mean in here?

    Beyond was a fairy hollow, a cuplike depression, curtained from the world by the red vines that hung from the trees upon its brim, and carpeted with the gold of a great maple;....

    A hollow, as per the text, is a cup-shaped depression/dip in the ground. A fairy hollow is presumably one where it is believed fairies exist, or it has a romantic feel about it that one could imagine fairies living there.
