Fall through the cracks / slip through the net

    I want to say that there are certain people in need who are not, for one reason or another, eligible to receive financial assistance. They are then in a very difficult situation. They "fall through the cracks" or they "slip through the net".

    Kann ich schreiben, "sie fallen zwischen den Rissen hinunter"? Ich habe die Übersetzung gesehen, "sie sitzen zwischen zwei Stuhlen" aber man verliert dann den Sinn vom Herunterfallen.

    The latter one can be translated quite literally: "durch das (soziale) Netz fallen".

    Hello :)

    In a more general sense, you could also say: "Durch das Raster fallen".
  4. you may also say "durch das Raster fallen", which is more impartial
