Hello,

Does the familiarity make sense in the following sentence?
David, because of the familiarity of his cousins with this story, was upset; no one had told him before. (I mean that his cousins know the story but he does not).

Hi. On the WR Dictionary, it says the familiarity is an uncountable noun, but gives the following as an example:

"has a familiarity with the mayor."

Is it correct to use it also without the indefinite article?
