fee waiver

What does the term "fee waiver" refer to? I have never seen it on my statement before, but recently I see the term "fee waiver" showing up on my credit card statement. It says: "Annual Fee" = $XX. Then "Annual Fee Waiver" = - $XX. It looks like they added the fee, then subtracted the fee. Thanks ahead of time for your explanation in this matter.

They have waived your fee for some reason... loyalty, special offer, high usage, etc.

I would imagine that either because of the way the computer program is set up, or because the company wants to show you how generous they are, they list the amount of the annual fee, and then subtract it so that your total payment is zero.
