Feeling the weight / weight is feeling.

  • My understanding from reading these forums is that in the English of India, there is a much greater use of the present progressive, even in stative verbs like "feel."

This sounds odd and foreign in just about every other variety of English, though, which is probably why The Newt has asked his question.

I would say "The weight feels very heavy to me./light to me."

But what are you trying to say? That the weight feels very light / heavy to you?
When I am trying to lift bench press of my body weight , I feel that light but when I try to lift the bench press which is 1.5 times my body weight, it is heavy.
