Salve a tutti, mi sono ritrovato a dover tradurre il passaggio di un'intervista che mi ha messo in difficoltà. Ecco di cosa si tratta:

"Worm Tamer is a decidedly freakish number: a catchy paean to the female Other who grows more formidable from verse to verse, set against a whirlwind barrage of outlandish noises, crazed drumming and urgent throbbing bass."

Laddóve Worm Tamer è il titolo di un brano. Il problema principare riguarda il riuscire a tradurre quel female other. Qualche aiuto?
 
    • Non ne sono convinto, ma l'ho tradotta così: Worm Tamer è un numero decisamente fuori dalla norma: un'accattivante lode al genere femminile, che cresce in maniera formidabile di verso in verso, contrapposto ad un turbinio di eccentrico noise, percussioni impazzite ed un basso martellante.
     
    Non è proprio semplice...l'ho letta molto en passant e credo che non sia una lode al genere femminile. Credo che il protagonista stia parlando con la sua amata con cui si è lasciato, raccontandole della sua nuova fiamma che non si comporta proprio benissimo, ma solo perchè ha capito che lui ama ancora l'altra! "She leaves me every night and who could blame her"
    boh, forse mi sono fatta un film troppo complicato!

    I believe "Other" here is a philosophical reference and highlights how historically women have been defined not in their own terms, but rather as relative to men. The default view through the centuries has been that Humanity is male, and therefore the female has been viewed as the "Other".
