"John and Mary cooked a skinny fish in the pot, but Ginny and Winnie already ate those eight fish that had been cooked."

I am not sure if it is a correct sentence.

Can we say, "John and Mary cooked a skinny fish in the pot, but Ginny and Winnie already finished eating the eight fish that had been cooked" ?

Any difference between "finished eating" and "finished"?

Are you saying that eight fish had been cooked and eaten before the "skinny fish" was cooked? If so, I suggest, "... and Winnie had already eaten the eight fish that had been cooked earlier/beforehand." or "..had already finished eating.."
