Now he was on his way out to the Burns Road in his pickup truck, which was loaded down with clippers, a battery-driven hedge-trimmer, a box of flag stands, a crowbar for lifting gravestones that might have fallen over, a ten-gallon gas can, and two Briggs & Stratton lawn mowers.

In this scene, George Middleton is a groundskeeper and he works part time for the town's caretaker.
What would flag stands be used for? How do they look like?

Thank you.

It is a tradition to put flags on graves of veterans on Memorial Day, the last Monday in May. Or on other holidays having to do with remembering veterans or wars.
