For a long time/ in a long time

    En español:No lo he visto en mucho tiempo. Creo que en este caso se usa for
    My attempt: I haven't seen him for a long time.
    Podrían explicarme la diferencia por favor

    "I haven't seen him in a long time."

    "for" would be understood and probably somewhat extended in use...but this way sounds better...
