for fear of

I know the phrase "for fear of doing sth" is correct but somehow the sentence below doesn't sound right to me:

"He got up early for fear of missing the bus."

Is there anything wrong with the sentence, or is it just me...?

    It is indeed fine. Of course, you could use the conjunction 'lest' + subjunctive :) <3

    He got up early lest he miss the bus :)
