for the longest

Hello !
I’d like to know what the phrase for the longest means ?

Does it mean the same thing as for the longest time ?

I’ve heard this phrase a few times in my life but the only example I can recall now are the lyrics to the Coolio’s song C U when you get there :
The realest homies that you've been knowing for the longest.

I used the search function and one thread about for the longest came up, but unfortunately it is French. So I took the liberty of coping the example given in that thread and pasting it in here. I guess it provides better context than the lyrics.

Strange that those dark words should now become her truest source of hope.
For the longest while she lay there, listening to the noises her child might make.

The realest homies that you've been knowing for the longest. = The most genuine close friends that you've known [the] longest. -> for the greatest length of time.

For a very long time while she lay there, listening to the noises her child might make.
