"For the sake of the exposition, ..."

Pero me niego a traducirlo como:

    Hola meetheye,

Sake es también propósito por lo que podrías traducirlo:

    En referencia a este documento....
    A/el propósito de este documento...
    La finalidad de este documento....

Mira cual se ajusta más al contexto!

    More suggestions,pls?

    don't agree :)

for the sake of the exposition could esily be replaced with for the good of the exposition. they are both synonymous and i don't see how they could be interpreted any other way.

This is true, what works for me is to first analize the phrase in english for instance " for the sake of the exposition"

When using "sake" are you trying to be "fair" with the exposition? are you trying to save or keep the exposition intact? then I would use:

"Por el bien de la exposicion"

I don't think we have enough context

For me, it could mean ... For the purposes of the exposition ...

And exposition is not a common word in BE ... Is it an academic paper???

Research themes and challenges may manifest themselves differently on different functional aspects of GIS. It is imperative therefore to discuss them in a functional framework. For the sake of the exposition, GIS functionality is here organized in relation to the level of intensity of data processing involved.

Thanks to all of you, and yes, I think it would have been better if I'd written more context.

I thing that the phrase that suits better in this context is:

For the purposes of the exposition ... (Psionman)

    Do you agree?

    Saluditos,

    Ferrán.
