forfeit the game

Hello. Could you please tell me what "forfeit the game" means? It's from a song by Linkin Park and it is supposed to be about child abuse. Thank you.

Points of Authority - Linkin Park

Forfeit the game before somebody else takes you out of the frame
and puts your name to shame, cover up your face, you can't run the race, the pace is too fast,
you just won't last, you love the way I look at you while taking pleasure in the awful things
you put me through, you take away if I give in, my life, my pride is broken

Usually games are forfeited by the competitor or team refusing to take part, although it might not be a conscious decision; a team might not be able to field enough players through illness or injury, perhaps, or they may have committed some other infringement of the rules.

I imagine in the song it is urging the person to give up what they are doing.
