Hi. I am writing a paper about immigration into Europe, and I am not sure how I should translate "former" in this sentence:

Many immigrants come from former European colonies in Africa.

    My attempt is:

Molti immigranti vengono dall'ex colonie europee d'Africa.

Your translation is correct; only, I would write "dalle ex colonie" (without apostrophe).

    Hello!
Yes, that would be the usual way to express it I think! :)

Molti immigrati provengono dalle ex colonie europee in Africa.

    Natives?
